Acura MDX and RDX

Acura just showed two new vehicles.

But the RDX is probably the most interesting because it's an Acura's first entry luxury SUV. Slotted below the MDX (top image), the RDX (bottom image) has a lot going for it. It's Acura's first turbo powerplant and it incorporates the company's Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) which works really well on the RL. They promise 240 hp so it should deliver on its sporty look. On the luxury side the RDX offers XM radio, dual zone climate control, Acura navigation with voice recognition and cool looking LED gauges.

We were expecting to see a real production version of the MDX but Acura showed a concept version instead. They say the production version will look a lot like the concept but there weren't many specifics. What we do know is that the new MDX is much more masculine and aggressive looking and will offer the company's SH-AWD and what Acura calls "a class leading V6 engine." The MDX was popular but it seems like Acura is going for a more performance oriented SUV this time around -- perhaps they're looking to run head to head with the mighty X5. I guess there's always the RX300 for buyers who are looking for a more luxury minded SUV.
